What We Do:
Transition House is dedicated to the solution of family homelessness in the Santa Barbara community. Capable and motivated families with children are offered life tools and respectful, non-sectarian residential services designed to alleviate poverty and restore self-sufficiency and dignity.

Responsibilities of Weekend Overnight Shelter Operations Staff Include:
-Attend to the needs, safety, and requests of residents of family homeless shelter.
-Routine housekeeping, and custodial tasks to maintain a clean, safe, healthy shelter.
-Prepare resident lunches and continental breakfasts.
-Conduct regular rounds of shelter.
-Report maintenance needs.
-Log clear written account of the activities and events of the shift.
-Monitor and enforce shelter rules, regulations, and COVID-19 safety compliance.
-Transition House staff and residents are required to abide by best practices in the prevention of the spread of COVID 19 including mask wearing, social distancing, and frequent hand washing.
-Perform duties as needed for the support of resident families and shelter staff members.

High School diploma or GED (required)
Excellent written and verbal communication (required)
Bilingual (preferred)
Experience working in residential setting, group home, or shelter (preferred)

Full Time Infant Teacher – Transition House

non-profit organization Transition House Mom’s Infant Care Center is seeking a fully qualified infant teacher.

Transition House Mom’s Infant Care Center is a fully licensed infant care center that has been in operation for over 20 years. We are a part of the Transition House program and serve mainly families who are homeless or come from low income households in Santa Barbara. Ours is a relationship centered, play based philosophy where each teacher is a primary caregiver for approximately 4 children. Five full days per week, children participate in a variety of activities that encourage their development in each of the developmental domains. We are looking for a teacher with a strong background caring for young children to join our wonderful team! The ideal candidate takes initiative, is reliable, outgoing, and friendly.
Teachers receive paid planning time each week, financial support for attending professional development and/or college coursework throughout the year, weekly reflective practice, as well as built in, paid professional development and in-service days each month.

The open Teacher position is full time Monday through Friday and will be eligible for medical/dental benefits, 403b Retirement Plan, as well as paid vacation and sick time.


At least 12 units of ECE including 3 infant/toddler units

Must pass Live Scan criminal background check/fingerprinting as well as a pre-employment health screening including negative TB test and proof of immunity to Measles, Pertussis, and Flu (per licensing requirements).

A candidate who is bilingual English/Spanish is preferred but not required.
