Every child’s Christmas should be full of excitement, warmth and laughter. It is no different for the children who live in our emergency family shelter.
Traditionally, Christmas at Transition House is a huge undertaking supported by community volunteers who shop for individual children and families. This year, we must be true to our mantra “Safe Families, Safe Selves,” and do what we all can to minimize our physical interactions with others.
With that said, we are happy to invite you and everyone in our community to join us in bringing holiday cheer as Safe Distance Secret Santas!
As a Safe Distance Secret Santa, your donation will allow staff to purchase items from children’s wishlists, wrap presents and get the gifts into the hands of the children and parents on Christmas morning. You get to play Santa, all from the comfort of your home!
Clients with alternative holiday traditions will be supported and encouraged to celebrate. In keeping with our goal of maintaining safe celebrations, Arnoldi’s Cafe will prepare special holiday meals for our residents.
With your help, Transition House can support over 40 families in our shelter and housing programs (representing 150+ children and adults) through our holiday efforts. Families of all faith traditions receive support during this time in a way that is respectful of their customs and beliefs.
NOTE: In order to minimize foot traffic and physical contact during COVID-19, we ask that people refrain from dropping off unsolicited toys and items. In-kind donations are accepted under the discretion of staff by appointment only, please.
