We are looking for new long-term dinner provider groups that can serve dinner one night per month. Dinner Providers can be a faith group, a business, a service organization, or a family or friend group. Anyone who enjoys sharing food and serving their community. Can you help?

Volunteering at Transition House gives you the chance to meet new friends, give back to the community, and make a difference in the lives of Santa Barbara families in need.
There are a variety of volunteer opportunities and Transition House’s volunteer coordinator will help match you with a position that best suits your interests, skills and availability.
Dinner Provider Groups – Provide dinner for the families in the emergency shelter with your group. This volunteer opportunity involves the planning of the menu, grocery shopping, cooking, and serving the meal. Once a month, once every other month, and “fill-in” opportunities available.
Client Screener – Bilingual (Spanish/English) volunteers assist in case management by meeting with residents at our emergency shelter to communicate important messages and simply lending a friendly ear.
Hours: One evening a week from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Duties/Requirements: Training in confidentiality, boundaries, note-taking, file management, and a minimum six-month commitment.
Evening Enrichment Program – Have fun with working alongside our Children’s Program staff in creating a fun and enriching evening program for our child residents. Activities include homework help, reading books, creative projects, and outdoor activities. The children’s range from 4 years to teens.
Hours: One evening per week from 5:00 p.m. -6:15p.m.
Family Support Center childcare – Work directly with children engaging them in games, activities, and art projects while their parents attend anti-poverty education classes at our Family Support Center. The children’s ages range from infants to teenagers.
Hours: One evening a week from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Teen group – Participate as a friend and mentor to our teens who meet in a supportive, fun, and empowering environment while engaging in a variety of activities.
Hours: Two evenings per month 7:00p.m.-8:00p.m.
Administrative help – Help staff with a variety of office duties ranging from making reminder calls to dinner providers, preparing mailings, and other administrative tasks.
